Good Samaritan Guild
Contributions to the Catholic Charities Good Samaritan Guild go on to touch the lives of thousands of the most vulnerable people within our community during their most critical times.
The parable of the Good Samaritan begins with this simple question, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?” And so a familiar tale unfolds, whereby a man in need is ignored by other travelers until a Samaritan, the least likely to be of help, stops his journey to save a life.
At the conclusion of the parable, Jesus poses this question to His followers, “Which of these … in your opinion was a neighbor to the man who fell victim to robbers?” The answer came, “The one who treated him with compassion.” Jesus instructed, “Then go and do the same.”
The Catholic Charities Good Samaritan Guild was created with this directive from Jesus in mind. Members of the Guild are people of great compassion, demonstrating their love of neighbor through generous stewardship. Their contributions provide help and create hope for those who need it most – the impoverished, the afflicted and the abandoned. We recognize that helping people achieve self-sufficiency, learn new skills and access needed resources and services is the most effective way to fight poverty.
Become a Good Samaritan Guild Member
Good Samaritan Guild members play a critical and increasingly important role in funding the programs and services managed by Catholic Charities.
As the need for our services continues to grow, we’d like to encourage you to consider becoming a Good Samaritan. The Guild provides you with a practical and meaningful way to demonstrate God’s love and the rewards of joining are endless.
In the same spirit of Love, the Guild recognizes its members by offering a mass for their special intentions. Members are listed in the Catholic Charities annual report and in our quarterly newsletter and their names are inscribed on a special plaque at the Catholic Charities headquarters.
