Justice for Immigrants

Justice for Immigrants (JFI) is a national campaign of the U.S. Bishops which is active in local dioceses and supported by the resources and legislative updates on the national website: www.justiceforimmigrants.org.The campaign stands on Scripture and Catholic Social Teaching to encourage prayer, promote facts about immigration, dispel myths and advocate for comprehensive federal immigration reform that protects all workers, reunites families, supports national security, and creates an earned path to citizenship.

Activities in the archdiocese include parish and archdiocesan workshops and legislative advocacy and collaborative efforts on the state and federal level. Legislative outreach includes e-mail action alerts to the Travelers Together network, who give voice to the JFI position as constituents of public officials and legislators.

2010 Postcard Campaign

In January, Justice for Immigrants (JFI), the national Catholic campaign for comprehensive immigration reform of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, is launching a postcard campaign that calls for comprehensive immigration reform legislation that keeps immigrant families together, adopts smart and humane enforcement policies, and ensures that immigrants without legal status register with the government and begin a path toward citizenship. These postcards will be addressed to Georgia’s delegation in Washington, D.C.

The postcards will be available to participating parishes. The completed postcards will then be returned to our archdiocesan office for shipment to Washington, D.C. and delivery in bulk to Congressional offices by JFI staff. The recommendation is that only people with legal status should sign the postcards.

If you would like to be the JFI Coordinator for your parish, then please speak with your parish’s pastor. Once you have secured your pastor’s approval, then please fill out the form on the bottom of this page (2010 Postcard Campaign Form) and either scan and email it to Augusto Michael Trujillo at amtrujillo@archatl.com or fax it to (404) 888-7816. You will then be in charge of coordinating and distributing the postcards to your parish. Requests for postcards are needed as soon as possible to meet the printing deadline.
