Kate Walker, LMSW, is Catholic Charities Atlanta’s Director of Quality Improvement. Kate received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia in History and then worked in a school setting as well as with public housing before returning to graduate school for Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania. While in Philadelphia, Kate worked with United Way in program development, capacity building, and quality assessments for out-of-school-time programs. After returning to Georgia, Kate began as a Parenting-ESL Instructor at Catholic Charities Atlanta and grew to become the Manager of Refugee Support Services, which managed school-related services for refugee parents and youth, employment services for refugee adults, and social adjustment services to assist refugees as they adjust to life in the United States. Kate has presented on best practices for working with refugee families and chaired the Atlanta Refugee Youth Network in 2014. She has been with the agency for over 7 years and recently transitioned to her current position where she focuses on accreditation, compliance and strategy.
