Join Our Team!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Catholic Charities Atlanta! Our volunteers are the heart of our programs and services and we are always seeking individuals who are interested in donating their time and talent.
Catholic Charities volunteers serve clients and the community in a number of ways. Whether you’re an individual looking to lend a helping hand or a group seeking a service project you’ve come to the right place.
Volunteer opportunities vary based on current program needs. Current openings are listed below. Please check back frequently, as needs change!
For more information on how to volunteer, fill out the Contact form below.
We have a variety of volunteer opportunities based on the current needs of our programs. These opportunities are categorized below to assist you in finding the right fit for you.
We are looking to build a team of dedicated on-call volunteers who are passionate about helping CCA fulfil its mission. Volunteers will provide general agency support through a variety of activities, often with little notice. Opportunities are primarily during business hours, Mondays through Fridays between 8 am and 4 pm. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer that we can contact with relatively short notice, please sign up here. Examples include administrate tasks, stuffing envelopes, making a pick-up or drop-off of donations.
We offer short-term volunteer opportunities for individuals on an as-needed basis.
If you would like to submit another way you’d like to get involved, please contact Erin Maclay via the interest form below.
Long-Term & Annual Opportunities
Our volunteer opportunities center on our mission of enabling families to overcome barriers and achieve self- sufficiency. We have ongoing program needs that require more of a long-term commitment, meaning recurring/consistent work for a minimum of three months. Also included are internships and AmeriCorps/VISTA positions.
If you would like to get involved in our long-term or single project positions, please see the requirements listed below.
1: Interview with CCA program staff or member of Volunteer Resources. Speaking with us ensures that you understand the scope of the position, the requirements, and gives us an opportunity to answer your questions.
2: Volunteer Orientation. All of our volunteers and interns must attend an agency orientation. This one and a half hour presentation is an overview of the programs and services CCA provides and the policies and procedures applicable to volunteers. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about CCA. Orientations are scheduled as required before a volunteer starts service.
3: Volunteer Application Package. All volunteers are required, at a minimum, to complete:
- Volunteer application form
- Confidentiality agreement
- Waiver of liability and photo release
Please Note: Additional screenings and materials may be required, based on volunteer position. For example, if driving is part of your position, we ask for additional driver-related information. Another example, is when working in our mentoring program, all volunteers must submit to a fingerprinting scan.
4: Criminal Background Check. All volunteers submit to a criminal background check through Sterling Direct. The search includes: sex offender, SSN trace, and criminal background check. If driving on behalf of CCA, we do a drivers record check. Outside background checks (other than Sterling through CCA) are not admissible. We do not conduct credit or employment history checks.
5: Reference Check. We require three non-family references that can speak to your character.
6: Safe Environment Training (VIRTUS). For volunteers interacting with children and/or vulnerable adults, we require VIRTUS training that incorporates proven best practice standards for the prevention of child sexual abuse. This is a 3-hour in-person training offered at various locations. You can find and register for a session here: https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/reg_list2.cfm?theOrgID=19153&theme=0
7: Program and Position-Related Training. Depending on your position, additional training by program staff may be required.
We welcome groups to get involved with CCA as we have opportunities available. The most up-to-date opportunities are listed below. For groups that volunteer in-person at a CCA site, we ask volunteers to sign a liability release. If hosting a donation drive, only name and contact info of the group is necessary.
Other ways for groups to get involved include hosting an in-kind drive for specific items our clients need. Those items are listed on our Projects & Drives page:
Your collected items will go directly into the hands of individuals served by Catholic Charities Atlanta.
